NOTE: Method of determining wattage rating for Sonny Jr. Amps
The amplifier is connected to the specified speaker load with a
sine wave applied to the input. An oscilloscope is then hooked across
the speaker load. The volume on the amplifier is increased until
clipping of the sine wave is seen on the oscilloscope, and then rolled
back until well below the clipping point. The AC signal at the load is
then measured as voltage with a "True RMS" rated meter. The result is
squared and divided by the load in ohms to arrive at the power of the
amplifier in watts. The watts ratings are good for all frequencies from
40 to 10,000 Hz.
Both the Cruncher and the Avenger were tested
with 12AX7 preamp tubes and a GZ34 rectifier. The wattage ratings are as
follows:
Cruncher = 35 watts
Avenger = 45 watts

| Antonello - Italy
Yesterday I was finally able to test the
mic you sent me and WOW, what a sound!!! Apart from being really
nice looking, from having a jack input that is really tight and just in
the right position, and apart from the volume knob with click stops, the
mic paired together with my Four-Ten is a killer. The amp was already
hot with my previous mics, but with this mic it rocks even more (and I
haven't even had the opportunity to play with tones, just plugged in and
played for the gig).
The products you deliver to us may seem costly, but quality has a price
and you deliver top quality. Our money is very well spent.
Thanks again, Gary! |

| Les Weiner - A happy microphone customer I
received the mic yesterday and I'm really happy with it. It's a real
winner. The tone of the CR element is perfect—full, deep, loud. I tried
it in Bright 1 and 2 and it sounds great. I wasn't sure about the 1/4
jack plugged directly into the mic, but this one is resistant to getting
pulled out even if you step on the cord—nearly impossible. And I like
the volume control with its set positions. I guess I favor somewhat
smaller mics--Astatic JT-30s and T-3s--as opposed to the Shure 520, so
the Turner shell fits my hand better.
Thanks so much for the fabulous mic, building it right away and shipping
it fast. |

Matched Groove Tube 6L6 Power Tubes
Each pair of GE Style 6L6 are matched and graded by their degree of aggressiveness on a scale of 1−10. I use a wide variety of grade numbers to dial in each amplifier. When you need to replace your power tubes, if you use the same grade that is in there at the time, the bias should be extremely close to what it was when shipped, approximately 28 milliamps. If you have the option to test them after changing
tubes, it is always good to be precise since the bias pot allows you to dial the amp in
once again. I do offer Groove Tubes at a discount to my customers if needed. |
